Data on the State's Unfilled Jobs

During the 4th quarter of 2009, the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development (EOLWD) conducted a survey of 10,000 employers across the state, asking them to provide a snapshot of:



The data accumulated by the Massachusetts Job Vacancy survey —an ongoing semiannual series that began in the 4th quarter of 2002 — is instrumental in accomplishing following critical public policy objectives:



In addition, the Job Vacancy Survey provides the following important benefits for employers and job seekers:



Survey recipients are selected at random by industry, size and region. Responses are weighted and scaled to produce statistically valid results.
