Current Employment Statistics (CES-790)

Current Employment Statistics (CES) data represent monthly estimates of employment, by industry for the Commonwealth and for seven Metropolitan New England City and Town Statistical Areas (NECTA). The Boston-Cambridge-Nashua MA-NH Metropolitan NECTA includes nine NECTA Divisions in which employment estimates are produced for Massachusetts. Statewide hours and earnings data are published for selected industries within the manufacturing super sector.

NOTE TO DATA USERS; as of March 8, 2019: Statewide employment estimates have been revised to reflect annual benchmark revisions and seasonal adjustments for 1990 to 2018. BLS now using concurrent seasonal adjustment for the seasonall adjusted data series.
As of March 12, 2019 New England City and Town Area estimates have been revised back to 1990. Seasonally adjusted total jobs data for selected areas are available.

  Instructions: Follow the steps below to set up your query for CES-790 information...
Select the Geography for which you would wish to see data.
Seasonally adjusted data are available for the State for selected industries.
Select Industry or Industry Sector
Choose the specific industry or industry sector of interest. Codes refer to the new NAICS CES Series Codes. For some industries you may select additional industry detail. Seasonally adjusted data is only available for total employment for some areas.
Select the Time Period
Choose the Most Recent Month, Most Recent 13 Months, or Calendar Year to date. If you select Calendar Year, you will have the ability to select the year(s) of interest. To select multiple years, hold down the 'ctrl' key as you select each option. To continue, click on the 'And Then Click Here' button.
