Labor Force and Unemployment Data

Labor force and unemployment data is estimated each month. Information is produced on labor force, employment, unemployment, and unemployment rates for the United States, the Commonwealth and for each Labor Market Area (LMA), Workforce Investment Area (WIA), City and Town, and County in Massachusetts. Use the query tool below to obtain Labor Force and Unemployment data by area and time period.

NOTE TO DATA USERS: As of February 28, 2008 the 2003 through 2007 Statewide series have been revised to reflect year-end revisions, methoological changes and updated seasonal adjustment factors. Beginning with 2008 estimates the previous month's data will be revised each month.

Labor force and unemployment data are based on a new methodology and redefined to reflect the 2000 Census based geographic configurations.

  Instructions: Follow the four steps below to set up your query for LAUS information...
 1.
Select the Geography for which you wish to see data
Choose an area type from the list. When State is selected, the Massachusetts data will be compared to the United States data.

Select the Specific Geographic Area
If you are selecting Cities or Towns, you may select up to ten specific cities or towns by holding the 'ctrl' key as you select each option. To continue, click on the 'And Then Click Here' button.
